IMPORTANT!!! Appointment information
We have listened to you and learned from our questionnaire and consultations with patients, that many of you had problems maintaining continuity of care with the same doctor. We understand that it is important for our patients, wherever possible, to be followed up by the same doctor. We also understand that doctors phone in is often frustrating and time consuming as it can be difficult to get through when lines are engaged for long periods of time. Therefore we have made some changes that we hope will help to resolve this:
With effect from Monday 31st March 08
Afternoon doctors phone is will no longer exist! Instead you will be able to pre-book a time for the doctor to phone you.
Some answers to your questions:
Q. How will pre booked telephone consultations work?
A. You can telephone us and ask to speak to the doctor of your choice. You will then be offered a time for the doctor to phone you back.
Q. Will the doctor phone me at exactly my booked time?
A. Under normal circumstances the doctor will phone you within 30 minutes of the time you have been given.
Q. Will it be on the same day?
A. You can choose to book a telephone consultation in advance with the doctor of your choice. If your doctor of choice has free telephone appointments on the same day you will be offered a choice of same day or advance booking.
Q. What days will the doctors have telephone consultations available?
A. Telephone consultations will be available every afternoon. Contact reception for information on the availability of each doctor.
Q. What if my doctors telephone appointments are full?
A. We have made telephone slots available for you to book in advance on different days. We cannot always guarantee that you can speak to the doctor of choice on the same day of if your problem is urgent. However, you will be able to book an advance telephone consultation with the doctor of your choice. As is the case now, you will be able to speak to the duty doctor for urgent or same day problems.
Also for your convenience and to help provide a better service to our patients we have made small changes to the times that some of the doctors will be consulting.
Healthy Pulses Clinics will, from 31st March, be held on Wednesday afternoons.
PLEASE NOTE: If you have a Healthy Pulses appointment we will contact you to change it (No need to phone the surgery).
We hope this will help resolve some of the problems you have been experiencing.
We always welcome comments, be they compliments on our service or frustrations with our service. If you would like to comment you are welcome to contact any member of staff or Sharon Hunt, Practice Manager either by telephone, letter or
e-mail.
