Milton Abbas Surgery was inspected by The Care Quality Commission (CQC) on the 28th June 2016 as part of the national programme to inspect and grade all health care providers. The inspection team assesses the healthcare provider against a set of quality indicators- are services safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led, as well as, how well are services delivered to six population groups.
We are delighted to announce that we have been rated as “outstanding” overall, achieving this rating in nine of the eleven indicators, and “good” in the other two.
Nationally less than 1% of GP surgeries are rated this highly, and only one other in Dorset has achieved “outstanding”. The magnitude of this achievement for a small rural team is extraordinary and reflects well on the whole team at the surgery.
The truly integrated way in which we deliver health care so successfully goes against the national and local drive to provide care on a grander scale with much larger provider units. We pride ourselves on a high level of personalised, patient-centred care and believe the depth of knowledge the team holds for every patient facilitates the quality of care we able to provide.
This grading is a huge boost for the whole team but will act as encouragement to continually strive to improve the services we provide and adapt to the ever changing face of Primary Care.
A special mention must go to The Patient Group and Neighbourcar, who’s support enabled us to secure this wonderful result.
